Supporting Our Young People to Make Safe and Healthy Choices

September 3, 2026

As part of our ongoing commitment to student wellbeing, the College was pleased to once again welcome on Tuesday, Paul Dillon from Drug and Alcohol Research and Training Australia (DARTA) to work with our senior students.

Paul has been a leading educator in the field of drug and alcohol education for almost 30 years and is a familiar and highly respected presenter at Chisholm. His presentations are evidence-based, engaging and designed to equip young people with practical knowledge and strategies that support safe and healthy decision-making. Through age-appropriate sessions tailored to the unique experiences and challenges of each year group, students were encouraged to think critically about risk-taking behaviours, understand the realities of alcohol and other drugs, and learn how to look after themselves and their peers. A consistent theme throughout Paul’s presentations is the promotion of students’ potential and being the best version of themselves, reinforcing positive norms and that the majority of young people do not use drugs and make healthy choices.

By partnering with families and providing students with trusted education and guidance, we continue to support our young people as they grow into responsible, confident and informed adults. Please take this valuable opportunity to continue meaningful conversations at home about safety, responsibility and wellbeing. For your information, the three-year cycle covers the following topics:

Year 10: Young People, Alcohol and Risk Taking: Looking After Your Mates

Year 11: Alcohol, Nicotine and Cannabis: What Do You and Your Friends Need to Know?

Year 12: Last Year at School: What Do I Need to Know About Alcohol and Other Drugs?
