Wednesday was the first day of our students working with Brother Ollie and his volunteers at Wheelchairs For Kids. The students received hands on experience with constructing the wheelchairs and getting a really good understanding of how they could contribute to change a young child’s life.
The foundation has been operating for over 50 years now and has contributed over 50,000 wheelchairs to countries around the world.
Below is some feedback from staff and students who attended the workshop:
“Today we volunteered at Wheelchairs For Kids Foundation. We were kindly welcomed by the amazing volunteers who helped us learn more about what their Foundation does. The wheelchairs help many kids get off the ground, contribute to their community and have a better quality of life”. – Mrs Bell
“Working at the Foundation was really enjoyable and made me feel good about myself knowing that I helped kids in need”. – Siena
“A learning experience where I became more aware of what was happening around the world”. – Helena
“Today I didn’t just learn how to build wheelchairs, I learned how a community can make such a big difference”. – Bella
“This experience helped me to grow and learn about the community around me”. – Lia
We would like to thank Brother Ollie Pickett for welcoming us and letting us have this amazing experience. We highly enjoyed it and can’t wait to come back.
