Year 11 Camp Leaders’ Training

March 20, 2025

On Wednesday afternoon, 58 Year 11 students took part in a training session to become leaders on the Edmund Rice Camps, soon to be known as Thrive Camps. They were shown the importance of leadership in inspiring and empowering people to realise their potential and to navigate challenges they may have to face.

The leadership training played a crucial role in equipping the students with the tools, knowledge and skills they need to excel in their roles. It provided a structured learning environment where students gained insights into their responsibilities and learnt best practices that can be applied to real-world situations.

The session began with an introduction to leadership theories, helping the students gain an understanding of different leadership approaches. After that, the students were split into groups for role-playing scenarios and small group discussions, led by five leaders who shared valuable experiences, insight and inspiration.

All the students were enthusiastic about their opportunity to work on these camps later in the year with children who are disadvantaged in some way.
