Year 11 Politics & Law Excursion

July 25, 2024

Recently, the Year 11 Politics & Law class attended the WA Courts to observe court cases in session at the District and Supreme Courts accompanied by a tour guide from the Francis Burt Law Education Programme. Students then had the opportunity to visit the Parliament of Western Australia where they had a tour and observed Question Time in session.

‘We visited the Supreme Court of Western Australia and had the opportunity to explore its historic premises. The traditional courtrooms, still in use today, were fascinating to see. Next, we went to the District Court and attended a hearing. Watching witnesses present evidence and barristers cross-examine them gave us an intriguing glimpse into a real court case. Following that, we toured the State Parliament, where we learned interesting facts about the building and the role of a Member of Parliament. We also observed Question Time which gave us an informative look at how parliament operates.’ – Abigail Julien, Year 11 student.
