Year 11 Thanksgiving Mass and Assembly

November 3, 2023

On Thursday, the Year 11s celebrated the end of their school year with a Thanksgiving Mass and Assembly. During Mass, our Chisholm Ministers were formally commissioned, and Simone from St Vincent de Paul graciously received our PCG Christmas family hampers.

It was then my great honour to give out a number of student awards during our final Assembly. Congratulations to those students who received the Character Learning Compassion Awards. These prestigious awards were given to students who were nominated by College staff as students who consistently displayed all three of our College Values throughout the year. The House Representatives were also acknowledged and thanked for their selfless service to their PCG and the College. A number of final Certificates of Commendation were also presented. Special mention to Bianca De Mello who received the City of Bayswater Scholarship.

In my address to the Year 11s, I reflected on how the Year 11 journey has been a year of immense growth, learning and unforgettable moments for all of us. I reminded them that success is not solely defined by their grades but by their character, resilience and the impact they make on the world around them. If our time on the recent Vietnam Immersion taught us anything, it is that we have so much to learn from each other and we can become the best version of ourselves. My hope is that all of the Year 11s have not just learnt the content of their subjects this year but also have learnt how to be kind people and the importance of being there to help others.

My wish this year was that they all became better people for having been in Year 11 at Chisholm Catholic College. I asked them, as the leaders of the College next year, to remember that they are the role models for the younger students. I challenged them to never hesitate to lend a helping hand, continue to strive for excellence, set a positive example always and be a shining light for others.

Congratulations to all of the Year 11s. I wish them the very best of luck in the upcoming exams and the many adventures that await in Year 12 and beyond. I wish those leaving us this year all the best for their futures.

Thank you to each and every Year 11 for welcoming me into the Chisholm family this year and for making this year group so special!
