Year 7-9 End of Year Programme

The Year 7-9 End of Year Programme was a resounding success, offering students a unique opportunity to explore various curricular and co-curricular areas in creative and engaging ways. This alternative programme allowed students to tackle real-world problems, fostering skills such as creative thinking, collaboration, problem-solving and communication.

Year 7 Highlights

The week began with a Science project based learning activity, where students explored and designed ways of making their world a better place. The Water Corp set up interactive HASS tents on the oval, providing an immersive learning experience. In the afternoons, students rotated through activities such as cooking Christmas treats in Home Economics, solving puzzles with the Mathematics team, participating in Team Games with HPE and diving into computer programming with the IT team.

Year 8 Highlights

Year 8 students started with the “Create a Zine” project based learning activity, designing their own magazines on their favourite topic. They engaged in various activities, including cooking for others in Home Economics, tackling the Wood Puzzle Challenge with the Wellbeing team and participating in coding and robotics with the IT team. Other activities included a Stewardship Project with the RE team, video game character design with the Design and Technology Department and a cultural programme with the Aboriginal Education Team.

Year 9 Highlights

Year 9 students enjoyed activities such as indoor rock climbing at the Adrenalin Vault Centre, martial arts and wellbeing sessions and a drumming workshop. The week culminated in a project based learning activity with the Stellatus team, where students used critical thinking and teamwork to build their own rollercoaster.

Overall, the programme was a fantastic way for students to end the year, providing them with memorable experiences and valuable skills for the future.
