Year 8 Chinese Cultural Adventure

July 3, 2025

What a day to remember! On Thursday 19 June, our Year 8 students joined the Chinese Cultural Excursion organised by Chinese Language Teachers’ Association of Western Australia (CLTAWA), alongside students from seven other schools across WA. It was a fantastic day of food, fun and friendship – all while learning more about Chinese culture.

The day began with a relaxed stroll through Chinatown, where students soaked in the vibrant atmosphere and spotted signs of Chinese heritage around every corner. This set the perfect tone for what was to come.

We then headed to Six Fortune Restaurant in Northbridge for a mouth-watering Chinese feast. Between bites of dumplings and noodles, students tested their knowledge in a fun quiz with new friends from across the state.

Next stop, the Chung Wah Association! Students got a glimpse into the rich history of Chinese Australians and were treated to exciting performances featuring traditional musical instruments and an energetic lion dance.

The cultural adventure continued with a stroll through an oriental grocery store, a sweet treat from a bubble tea shop and a final visit to the State Library.

A big thank you to Mr Alagic and Ms Mohen for looking after the students on the day, Ms Domingue-Mungar for organising the bus and Ms Astone for preparing student details and first aid kit.

It was a day full of colour, culture and connection!
