On Wednesday 26 August, our Senior Boys Soccer team played their final group game in the ACC Divisional Championship against Lake Joondalup Baptist College.

Chisholm went into the game knowing that only a victory and three points, would ensure qualification for the semi-finals. A defeat would send us out and a draw would also leave our destiny in the hands of others.

Lake Joondalup were sitting at the top of the ladder going into this game and the challenge to have to defeat the top team was going to be tough. In the same fashion as last week against Mercy College, Chisholm came out full of confidence and showed no signs of nerves, playing some good, attacking football.

This pressure was rewarded with a fine goal from Isaac to set up a 1-0 lead. As the first half grew to a close Lake Joondalup gradually found their feet and equalized with a headed goal after a flowing move, resulting in a 1-1 score at half time.

Going into the second half, Chisholm knew that a win was within their grasp and pushed hard for the second goal, but in doing so, survived a few scares in defence with Lake Joondalup playing well on the counter attack.

However, with three minutes remaining, a free kick by Joseph found its way to Aiden Reardon on the edge of the six-yard box who fired the ball into the bottom corner to send Chisholm into the semi-finals with a 2-1 win. We finished top of the group with three wins and two draws, going unbeaten in all our group games.

The Semi-Final will take place on Wednesday 9 September at Sam Kerr Football Centre in Queens Park where Chisholm will play either St Norbert College or All Saints College for a place in the Grand Final.
