Dear Parents, Students, Staff and Friends of Chisholm Catholic College,
This week, our Year 10 students participated in their faith retreat, a significant milestone in their journey through secondary school. The retreat provided our young people with the opportunity to reflect on the transition from childhood to adulthood, exploring themes of identity, responsibility, relationships, values and the kind of person they aspire to become.
Through prayer, discussion and reflection, students were encouraged to consider that adulthood is not simply about growing older, but about developing the character, wisdom and sense of purpose that enable us to contribute positively to our communities and the wider world.
Fittingly, the retreat was complemented by a day focused on careers and vocational planning. While at first these experiences may appear quite different, they are in fact deeply connected. As our students reflected on who they are becoming, they were also challenged to consider how their gifts, talents and interests might shape their future pathways.
I wish to acknowledge Mr O’Mara and Mrs Firns, our Chisholm Career Services Team and supporting staff, for facilitating this programme and their ongoing dedication to Careers and Vocational Education along with Deacon Peters and our Year 10 PCAs who facilitated the Retreat. I recommend for further insights, reading the articles they have shared in this Carolean.
I was very appreciative of the strong message and sentiments underlying these special events, that it is not what you become but who you become, reminding us that significance lies in service, not status.
God bless.
Mr Simon Harvey
Principal
