Our mission at Chisholm is the formation of the whole person, enabling each student to be an instrument of Christ in the world. This week has provided numerous opportunities for students to live that mission.

A large number of students have continued to participate in the Catholic Performing Arts Festival. By performing as soloists, in duets and large ensembles, they have shared their God-given talents and pursued excellence through creativity and expression. On the sporting field, our Boys’ and Girls’ Soccer teams have represented the College in the ACC Senior Students Championship Tournament, with tenacity and sportsmanship. 

The same tenacity has been shown by our Mock Trial team who have been fighting it out with their words, wit and evidence to get through the final stages of the competition. Students from all year groups have also been reflecting on subjects they are passionate about, those they perform well in and ones that will assist them with their future pathways, as they undertake their subject selections for 2027.

As part of our mission to evangelise, Year 10 Religious Education students were able to learn and understand how people respond to God’s calling from a panel of guest speakers. Students were encouraged to consider how they may hear God’s call and discern their vocation in life while our Year 9 students participated in workshops within their PCGs facilitated by AdventureWorks WA. They had time to reflect upon the responsibilities and opportunities that accompany personal growth and maturity as they step Into Adulthood. 

Creating opportunities for connection and community was also seen last Friday night when a number of our senior students donned an array of wild and colourful costumes to participate in the annual Year 11 and 12 Quiz Night. It was a wonderful chance for students to share a laugh, test their general knowledge and strengthen connections with their peers.

That sense of community extended to future members of our College family on Saturday morning, when we welcomed more than 300 Year 6 students on campus to sit the College’s Placement Test.

As we prepare to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption tomorrow, we are invited to look to Mary as the model disciple. Mary’s faith, courage and willingness to say yes to serve God’s purpose reflect the qualities we seek to nurture in our students as they grow, discern and use their gifts in service of others.

The vast array of experiences of this week alone, remind us that education is more than just an academic pursuit, it is the formation of the whole person; spiritually, academically, socially, physically and emotionally. Each activity provides another opportunity for our students to Grow in Christ and become all that they were created to be.
