Recently, nearly 300 Secondary Principals and senior school leaders gathered in Perth for the Catholic Secondary Principals Australia’s (CaSPA) National Conference. Attended by Principal delegates from Catholic schools from all states of Australia, the event centred on the theme of Dreaming the Future of Catholic Education.
The valuable programme featured various keynote speakers and concurrent presentations from a large variety of Catholic school contexts from around the country. Our own Sister Chau joined in a panel interview and discussion with keynote speaker, Brother David Hall from ACU in Sydney where she spoke passionately about her work in our school community. Year 12 student Josie McAllister was also invited to be part of panel with four other Year 12s from different schools as part of a very impressive panel discussion around the current issues facing our education system and their thoughts about education into the future. Other Chisholm students were also involved in assisting with the registration process as delegates arrived and with others in the conference’s closing liturgy.
Executive Director Mr Wayne Bull and Bishop Donald Sproxton joined the assembly as Guests of Honour at the Conference Dinner and National Awards Presentation on the Monday evening. Mr Bull addressed the assembled leaders on the future of Catholic Education with reference to the endurance of our rich history.
The final day also featured a selection of school visits for interstate delegates to five of our Catholic secondary schools. Chisholm was one of those that played host to a group of the visitors and the tour of our College and the insights gleaned were warmly received. The visitors were certainly impressed and very appreciative.
Mr Stephen Kennaugh, President of CaSPA, commended everyone on the success of the event following its conclusion, noting:
“I wish to express my deepest appreciation to Principals and their executive teams for being present at the CaSPA National Conference – Dreaming the future of Catholic Education. Your unwavering commitment to educational excellence and your visionary leadership are instrumental in shaping the future of our youth.
The program was rich in wisdom with engaging formats that kept us in our seats. Thank you to the CSPA WA National Organising Committee who fostered a conference with an atmosphere of collaboration and inspiration that underscores our shared commitment to advancing the mission of Catholic education.”
The next CaSPA National Conference is scheduled for Sydney, NSW in 2026.
