Da Vinci Decathlon
Three teams of Stellatus students recently had two wonderful days at the University of WA taking part in the Da Vinci Decathlon. This is a full day of extremely difficult academic competition across 10 categories, ranging from cartography to art and poetry to improvised drama. The Year 7 and 8 teams both won two prizes: code breaking and creative producers for the Year 7s and English and engineering for the Year 8s. Year 9 students were just pipped at the post in the very esoteric general knowledge round. The Year 7s finished 9th out of 28 teams, which is a fantastic achievement in such a challenging competition.
The organisers of the event commented on how well-mannered our students are, always polite and friendly. Congratulations to the following students on their great efforts:

The Prime Minister’s Spelling Bee
Year 7 and 8 Stellatus students recently had the chance to take part in the Prime Minister’s Spelling Bee. I am delighted to be able to say that 10 of them qualified for the state finals on Friday 2 September, making up 10% of the WA finalists in their age group. Congratulations to Year 7s: Alex Liau, Annika Rendall, Amelia Murphy-Marsh, Chloe Langley, Dylan Dang, James Juniper, Jaxon Debono, Marc Sumpton and Raph Toh and Year 8: Eleni Chapman. The top three performers in each state will qualify for the national final and we wish our students the best of luck.
