FROM THE PRINCIPAL – New Beginnings

May 9, 2025

Term 2 has seen a busy start for our students with much happening in the Performing Arts, in the Sporting arena and with our City-Country Partnership tours to Broome and to Beagle Bay. In the next few weeks, the focus will home in on preparing for upcoming Externally Set Tasks and then Examinations for the senior years.

Recently, our system announced the appointment of our new Executive Director, Annette Morey, who will commence in her new role at the beginning of Semester Two, taking over from the current Executive Director Mr Wayne Bull, who retires.

Presently the Deputy Executive Director of CEWA, Annette is a distinguished, experienced and credentialed leader who has served Catholic Education in Western Australia for 32 years. Prior to her current position, she has served most recently as Principal of Mater Dei College and before that at St Norbert College.

As Deputy Executive Director, Annette has actively contributed to the planning and implementation of Catholic Education Western Australia’s Strategic Initiatives 2030. In doing so, Annette established close and robust professional relationships with key stakeholders, including the Bishops of Western Australia, Catholic school Principals, the Minister for Education, and colleagues at the Department of Education, the Association of Independent Schools of Western Australia (AISWA) and Catholic School Parents WA.

In announcing Annette’s appointment Eva Skira, Chair of the Catholic Education Commission Western Australia stated:

“On behalf of the Catholic Education Commission of Western Australia, we thank the Bishops for their appointment of Annette as the Executive Director of CEWA and look forward to continuing to work with her in her new role. We would also like to acknowledge and affirm our gratitude for the continued leadership, service and unwavering dedication of Wayne Bull in his commitment to Catholic education, as the appointment process took place. We look forward to celebrating Wayne’s service as Executive Director, and to acknowledging his 47-year commitment to Catholic Education in Western Australia.”

We welcome the recent news that the new Pope has been chosen, announced and introduced to the world. No doubt much will be said and written about our new Pontiff in the coming days. Welcome Pope Leo XIV!

Finally, I extend my warm best wishes to all mothers for a joyful day on Sunday.
