We commenced Term 2 with an ANZAC Day Commemoration, to remember those who served our nation in times of war. We remember the ANZAC soldiers’ courage, compassion and companionship. We remember their loved ones and the sacrifices of those left at home.
Our guest speaker was Airforce Squadron Leader Fabio Miranda (Chisholm Class of 1994). He reminded us that “ANZAC Day is not about glorifying war. It’s about remembering the cost of peace. It’s about recognising the bravery of those who served, and continue to serve, and reflecting on how we can live lives of purpose, compassion, and unity.”
Squadron Leader Miranda spoke about the ANZAC spirit: “Courage in the face of hardship. Mateship in times of fear. Selflessness in the service of others.” He encouraged our community to carry the ANZAC spirit in our daily lives, by serving and loving others as Jesus taught us, to helping a fellow classmate who is struggling or needs a friend.
“So today, as we pause to remember the fallen and honour those who serve, let’s also commit ourselves to carrying forward their legacy. Whether you choose a path in defence, medicine, teaching or any other walk of life – carry the ANZAC spirit with you. Be courageous. Stand by your mates. Serve others with humility and heart. Let us remember with pride. Let us live with purpose. And above all… let us never forget.”
